Sarasonge River Lodge to Ngepi Camp, Popa Falls

Day 10 - 31st January 2007

8,00am start, and on the road for Rundu, and head for the Popa falls on the Okavangu river. Pretty hot conditions. Fuel stop in Rundu. Arrive early at the falls, and subsequently Ngepi camp, not before Nick managed to leave his bike during some sand riding. A rather unique establishment run by an Englishman called Neil, a graduate of the Gibraltar Taxi Association charm school. Accomodation is in bamboo tree houses facing the Okavangu, and everything  facing the river is “open” (showers, bedroom etc). Late lunch & beers followed by swimming in the “Pool” (a floating cage affair in the river allowing river bathing without crocs. Fostunately, we arrived on a Wednesday, as Thursday is naked bar night (drinks can only be ordered while naked). Slight excitement when a Dutch group of campers encounter a spitting Cobra near the bar area, which manages to spit some venom at a Dutchman’s arm, before he chases it back down to the river (yep - man chasing Cobra, obviously his Larium day). Rubberised meat goulash for dinner, washed down with copious amounts of beer ended the evening.

We are actually looking for Crocs, obviously we haven't found any - otherwise John would have been in there by now

Taken about 5 minutes after Nick had fallen off

(In case he'd forgotten!)
