Kombaku to Onguma Tented Camp, Etosha National Park

Day 8 - 29th January 2007

Awoke to Antelope on the garden, and a superb breakfast, on the road by 8.00am. Easy ride to Tsumeb (a mining town) for fuel, cash exchange and viewing a gemstone museum. Then on to Onguma tented camp. This exists within the confines of the Etosha National Game Park. Very luxurious tents surround (at a distance) a watering hole with the reserve. First request from our hosts was to sign an indemnity to the effect that if we are killed by snake bite, Big cat etc, we wouldn’t sue them. All sounded very dramatic, along with the “panic” airhorn in each tent and safety lecture. However, the talk of Mamba’s and the distant Lion roaring made for nervous walks to the tent, and troubled sleep! The sound of distant merriment was thought to be mosquito's having a "Glenn's arrived" party.

Overlooked by the dining area, and illuminated at night. We saw mainly Warthog and Jackal.
