Introduction

2008

Well, we made it! We rolled into Cairo, cold & tired (and mildly terrified) on the 5th February 2008. Then proceeded to see some geezer about a pyramid (or Mike said something like that).

Sorry for the delay in getting the info up here, but I have updated all sections of site, including additional photographs from 2007, and a selection from 2008. Many thanks to everybody that helped and supported us, particularly wives & partners.

A big thanks to Mike & Rennie for an incredible experience.

The full route can be found (via Google Earth) here.

The Team

Rennie & Mike

Rennie, a Dutchman by birth, African by choice - drives the support LandCruiser (among many other things)

Mike, South African by birth and choice, has done the trip in his sleep, our guide. Best of mates for 40 years.

John Harrison

Insurance king and crocodile baiter extraordinary. John was the one with the stupid idea in the first place. All of which makes him the natural choice for team medic.

Nick Keeling

Lawyer, dune king, team accountant and human dynamo. If it's off horizontal - he'll climb it.

Glenn Harris

Financial advisor, most experienced biker of the European team. Managed to get a helmet camera working, and obtained riding footage. Team Mechanic & Team Mosquito magnet.

Yvette, Codename "Mother Hen"

Yvette made sure everybody departed healthy, well fed (and with clean underwear!) and copious amounts of mozzie repellent.

Caroline Harrison

Mother Hen's Co-pilot

Matthew Lawrence

Man of leisure. The Latte King, chief coffee taster.

Humble Scribe

Yep, the good looking one on the left. IT person, team web producer and Team Mechanic.

Chief beer taster & "imodium instant" dispenser.
